In 1888 Ferruccio Biondi Santi created the famous Brunello di Montalcino from a brilliant inspiration, based on the model of Barolo at the time. This was a revolution because in the rest of Tuscany no wine was made from a single grape variety.

An excellent and exceptional harvest. A very good growing season with a wet spring and a dry summer which led to a dry harvest season. The Riserva 1955 was chosen as the only Italian wine by the American wine magazine “The Wine Spectator” as one of the 12 best wines of the world of the 20th century.
