The Appellation & Climat:
Corton Clos du Roi is one of the top climats (single-vineyard parcels) on the famed Hill of Corton in the Côte de Beaune. Known for its east-facing, steep stony-clay slopes, Clos du Roi produces powerful, structured, and long-lived Pinot Noir with red/black fruit intensity, earthy complexity, and firm tannins.

The Hospices Cuvée:
At the annual Hospices de Beaune auction, this wine is sold under the name Cuvée Baronne du Baÿ. The vineyard plot was donated to the Hospices in 1924 by the Baroness du Baÿ, daughter of Dr. Peste (a key benefactor of the Hôtel-Dieu in Beaune).

The Éleveur / Négociant (C. Marey & Comte Liger-Belair):
Hospices de Beaune wines are sold at auction in raw barrel form (en primeur). The buyer then entrusts a respected Burgundy house to mature (élevage), age, and bottle the wine. C. Marey & Comte Liger-Belair is a historic merchant house tied to the famous Liger-Belair family (originally founded in 1720 by C. Marey). Their name appears at the bottom of the Hospices label as the producer responsible for aging and bottling that specific lot.
